Young-hoon is devastated to learn that his first love Jung-nim is having an
affair with his teacher. In university, he sees his friends die for ideologies. He
meets beautiful Hae-yeon, a girl student from a rich family, whom he loves
but cannot seem to get closer to. They break things off at a bourgeoisie party
where he feels totally ostracized from. He begins to wander around, leaving
behind friendships and love, while pining away for Jung-nim whom he had
run into on the way home town. He lives in an inn in the country where he
meets Miss Yoon and an unlucky intellectual. They travel together and soon
realize certain truths about life which convinces them that life is worth living
