Yong-jun loses his mother in a car accident on his graduation day. His father
saves him by covering Yong-jun with his body at the cost of his fatal injury.
Yong-jun tries to survive on his own, working two jobs to pay his college
tuition but soon gives into his situation and begins to prostitute himself and
suffers from guilt. Yong-jun manages to graduate from college and meets
and falls in love with Hee-sun, a daughter of a wealthy family. She
convinces Yong-jun to abandon his father after they are married. Yong-jun's
life takes a negative turn when his college friend Joo-hee begins to dig into
his past. Out of guilt, he confesses everything to Hee-sun. Angered by the
revelations, Hee-sun leaves him and Yong-jun quits his job and sets out to
find his father. When the search for his father proves fruitless, Yong-jun goes
off the deep end. Eight months later, Hee-sun returns pregnant to find Yong-
jun has become an invalid, diagnosed with liver cancer and being in need of
a liver transplant. When Yong-jun's father hears about his son's condition,
he donates his liver to his son as a last gift. Yong-jun takes his own life
upon hearing of his father's sacrifice, jumping off the hospital building.
